Welcome to the Ontario Nature Calendar

Ontario’s wild spaces have something to offer every week of the year, from spring warbler migration and summer meadows to autumn kettles of raptors and winter owl sightings.

This calendar highlights natural events as they happen - helping birders, photographers, families, schools and curious explorers make the most of every season.

The weekly dates in this calendar are intended as a general guide for (mostly) Southern Ontario. Even within this region, variations in latitude, lake effect, and other climatic factors can influence timing. Broader climate patterns, such as rising global temperatures and ocean-driven cycles, also affect nature's rhythms. These entries reflect historical trends and averages, but the actual timing of events may shift. If you live at the outer edges of Southern Ontario, you may find that some natural occurrences happen earlier or later than listed. You can plan a pretty picnic, but you can't predict the weather. Sorry, Miss Jackson.
